New Year// New Word
Happy 2022, friends on the internet!
I've never been one for big, revolutionary resolutions because, frankly, they always seem a little daunting to me. A big shift isn't my style. Gradual changes are more my speed which is why in the past I have decided that adopting a single word for the year is exactly what I need. My word for 2021 was "intentional" and I think I did a pretty good job of focusing on being intentional with my relationships, how I spent my time and what I was and wasn't down to do with my life.
This year, my word is "Pause". I pondered what small goals I wanted to achieve in my life and I narrowed it down more and more until I came up with a singular word and this was it. I want to give myself permission to pause anytime I needed a break from the daily grind of chores and responsibilities and just snuggle or play a game with my kids. I want to pause from the chaos of life when I need some time to reflect on what I'm doing and where I'm going. I want to pause my mind from going a hundred miles per hour and just relax my mind and my body when it demands so. I want to pause and enjoy the moments that would have otherwise fallen to the wayside from being "busy". I want to remind myself to pause my anxiety and remind myself that "you're ok in this moment".
I hope I can remember to pause and soak up the beauty of my girls along all their quirks and uniqueness. I want to pause to listen to them, REALLY listen to them along with their 5 and 7 year old dreams, fears, goals and problems alike.
I want to plane for pauses in my schedule to make time for regular date nights with my husband.
Pause is an all encompassing word for the little shifts that I hope to make this year in the hopes of staying grounded, avoiding overwhelm and enjoying this phase of my life.
